Abstract

This research training abroad aims to provide familiarity with several instruments of movement analysis and proposals of physiotherapeutic interventions for dysfunctions and pain in shoulder complex. These methods are widely used in the Clinical Biomechanics, Orthopedics, and Sports Outcomes Research Laboratory at Virginia Commonwealth University. This training will be supervised by Professor Lori A. Michener. The student will participate in the research project: "Mechanisms of thoracic manipulation in patients with shoulder pain", and will perform in the data collection, analysis and processing of data, as well as take part in discussion on the results and in preparations of scientific papers. This training will contribute to the consolidation of the research line for biomechanics analysis in shoulder of the Graduate Program in Physical Therapy at UFSCar. Besides, it will favor the internationalization process of this program research activities through scientific cooperation with the group of Professor Michener. These activities will expand the human resources in this area of knowledge for the country. (AU)
