This project aims to determine the carbon turnover in different broilers tissues in adult phase, through analysis of isotopic carbon ration, using the C13 natural variation between plants of different photosynthetic cycle. Will be used 150 broiler chicks of 1days old, fed a diet composed predominantly grains of C4 photosynthetic cycle (of corn and soybean) to 41 days old. The birds will receive diet composed C3 plants predominantly (of rice and soybean) from the age in which almost reach the weight stability. For this the weight will be monitored weekly. Will be collected plasma, pectoral muscle and liver samples and analyzed the isotopic carbon ration in the mass spectrometer. To measure quantitatively the carbon rate substitution of the diets on the birds tissues after a defined time interval (turnover), will be used the Cerling et al. (2007) method expanded by Ducati et al. (2012). Results known, to measure the carbon rate substitution after a certain time interval (turnover), will be used exponential function of time obtained by the method of exponential equations of the first order of Minitab® 16 software with subsequent calculation of the carbon half-life in tissues (AU)
