This study will evaluate the influence of pulpal infection alone or associated with diabetes in the quantification of proinflammatory cytokine IL-17 in periapical lesions and organs of rats. Will be used 40 mice divided into four groups of 10 animals: G1 - normal rats, G2 - rats with periapical lesion, G3 - diabetic rats, G4 - diabetic rats with pulpal infection. Diabetes is induced by application of streptozotocin intravenously and confirmed in 24/48 hours subsequent evaluation by glucose. The periapical lesion is induced by exposure of the maxillary right first molar to the oral environment. After 30 postoperative days the animals will be sacrificed. The heart, liver and kidneys of all animals, as well as periapical lesions of groups 2 and 4 are removed. Will be used the ELISA to quantify the proinflammatory cytokine IL-17 in periapical lesions in animal bodies. The results are analyzed and compared in terms of statistical significance level of 5% (p <0.05).
