Abstract

This project consists of analyzing the territorial politics in the Brazilian colony during Pombal (1750-1777), with the mediation Historical Geography. From the Treaty of Madrid (1750) - March to inaugurate the government-Pombaline the project seeks to understand the territorial division established in the colonial borders between Spain and Portugal, making the relationship of this Treaty with the territorial policies above all executed in the Marquis of Pombal his government.Thus, this project aims to understand these territorial policies in order to show the importance of this historical period for the geographical analysis of the Brazilian territorial formation, to identify key players in the market system and the established political power between metropolis and colony, thereby advancing the analysis the genesis of the Brazilian socio-spatial formation, with the intention to contribute to the understanding of the current forms of the national territory.
