Abstract

The aim of this study is to characterize in HIV-infected children and adolescents the response in cocultures of monocyte derived dendritic cells (MDDC) and lymphocytes to inactivated HIV particles. The dendritic cells will be evaluated by flow cytometry for expression of CD80, CD83, CD86, CD40 and HLA-DR and by PCR-array followed by Real Time PCR for cytokines mRNA expression of IFN-gama, IFN-alfa, TNF-alfa, TGF-beta 1, IL-2, IL-4, IL-5, IL-6, IL-10, IL-12 e IL-15. The results from patients with viral load> 1000 copies/mL and with undetectable viral load will be compared using statistical tests appropriate to the distribution of data (significance level, p <0.05).
