The effect of the avocado/soy unsaponifiables on induced periodontitis in rats: immunohistochemical analysis of TGF²-1, VEGF and BMP-2

Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of the avocado/soy unsaponifiables(ASU) on the expression of growth factors TGF²-1, VEGF and BMP-2 on induce periodontitis in rats. In this study, 80 rats will be randomly assigned into eight groups: Group I Negative Control- The periodontal disease will be induce by ligatures and after the removal of the ligatures the oral gavage with saline solution will be initiate, Group II- Begin the oral gavage of the ASU seven days before the periodontitis induction, Group III- Begin the oral gavage of the ASU seven days before the periodontitis induction and at the moment of the removal of the ligatures subgengival scaling with mini-gracey curettes will be perform, Group IV- Induction of the periodontal disease and beginning of the oral gavage with ASU at the same day, Group V- Induction of the periodontal disease and beginning of the oral gavage with ASU at the same day and at the moment of the removal of the ligatures , a subgengival scaling with mini-gracey curettes will be perform , Group VI- Induction of the periodontal disease and beginning of the oral gavage with ASU at the moment of the ligature removal, Group VII-Induction of the periodontal disease and at the moment of the ligature remove the oral, a subgengival scaling with mini-gracey curettes will be perform and the oral gavage with ASU will begin , Group VIII-Positive Control- Induction of the periodontal disease with ligatures, and at the moment of the ligatures removal , a subgengival scaling with mini-gracey curettes will be perform. The animals will be sacrificed after 15 and 30 of the ligatures removal. Immunoinflammatory analysis Will be perform to evaluate the expression of the growth factors TGF²-1, VEGF and BMP-2. (AU)
