Abstract

The Anacardiaceae consists of approximately 73 genera, which comprises 600 to more than 850 species, found in tropical and subtropical areas. Chemistry studies of Anacardium occidentale revealed the presence of phenolic lipids (anacardic acids) in the fruits and flavonoids and tannins in the leaves. Although, A. othonianum showed no phytochemical study. The search for new drugs for the treatment of tropical diseases, for example, antischistosomal, in general, is considered the lowest priority for Pharmaceutical companies. Thus, this project aims to realize the chemical study of the bioactive EtOAc fraction obtained from the leaves ethanolic crude extract of A. othonianum Rizz. (Anacardiaceae) and to evaluate the schistosomicidal activity of the isolated compounds. Additionally, it will contribute to human resource formation in the Franca region.(AU)
