Abstract

The forests constitute dynamic biology system that are continuously changing, this way growth and yield models are necessary for the projection of these changes and to give information of great value that helps make decisions about forest management. Jointly with yield models the geostatistical methods can be helpful to explain the spatial variability that wasn´t taken into account in the traditional models. In this context this project aims to compare Clutter's yield model (1963) to the same model added to a spatial component, when applied to the data set of a plantation of Hybrid Eucalyptus urophylla S.T. Blake X Eucalyptus grandis W. Hill ex Maiden. The data analyzed are from a stand of clones, located at a farm in Itapetininga. These data constitute 117 fixed plots (approximately 400m2 each), measured from the 25th to 71st month. The traditional regression model proposed by Clutter (1963) and the model added to a spatial component will be compared and applied to the data. The models considered for the volume's projection will be estimated by the maximum likelihood and restricted maximum likelihood methods. The data will be analyzed using the software R and will be compared by Akaike's Information Criteria (AIC) and by residual standard error. Besides this there will also be a residual graphical analysis.(AU)
