Abstract

The increase in 'inter-scalas spatial interactions in urban networks is promoting profound changes in economic logics and practices of contemporary sociospatial medium-sized cities. This research project, as proposed parcel of a thematic project approved by the Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do São Paulo, no. 2011/20155-3, has hypothesized this finding and therefore proposes to work with the first, focusing on the analytical potential of consumption in quantitative and qualitative. From the Potential Consumption Index - CPI, CPI Marketing company organized by Publisher, as well as the organization of data and information pertaining to the reproduction and expansion of consumption in medium-sized cities of Marilia, Presidente Prudente and São Carlos, in the context of spatial interactions between scales, seek elements for the development, demonstration and questioning of our hypothesis. Changes in patterns and consumption potential of these medium-sized cities as expand and thicken the 'inter-scalar spatial interactions is then an analytic proposition contribution not only to the concept of "medium-sized cities" as the condition of them in urban networks to which they are articulated by economic agents and institutions of various kinds-business and strategies.
