Abstract

This project focuses on the analysis of the social interactions that take place around the "Black Fair", event that occurs in the city of São Paulo (SP) once a year. The Fair has the objective of promoting cultural and commercial activities which are perceived to be specific of the black community. More specifically, there are some distinctive features that interests us to focus: its association with a set of cultural institutes; partnerships with the private sector; its influence in policies of affirmative actions, which have expanded especially in the last decade; the construction of a context that not only promotes projects related to a certain perspective of the concepts of "culture" and "identity", but also, and fundamentally, of maintenance of economic circuits that engender income and employment, guided by an identitary rhetoric, in particular, ethnic-racial. For that, it is necessary to consider the connections and sociability forms that take place among the fair organizers, its partners and participants. (AU)
