Abstract

The understanding of the linkages between the natural elements is essential for promotion of land use, occupation and sustainable management of environmental systems. In this sense, the geotechnologies acquire great importance; in special because they support diagnostic works of environmental area conditions, focusing to subsidize the planning and the management of land resources. The Modified Universal Soil Loss Equation (MUSLE), as a predictive model of erosion, is important to allow the prevention of possible environmental impacts which may interfere in natural or anthropic environments drastically, as prevent potential financial wastes as well and even contribute to greater agricultural production efficiency. Among the MEUPS's considered factors, surface runoff interferes in the erosive dynamic of a watershed directly because it involves variables related to hydrological processes that occur on it. Some MEUPS's parameters are going to be quoted in this study, emphasizing surface runoff from watersheds Ribeirão Monjolo Grande (Ipeúna, SP - Brazil) and Ribeirão Jacutinga (Rio Claro, SP - Brazil). The attainment of these parameters are going to be guided by the use of geotechnologies, especially Geographic Information Systems (GIS), supported by secondary data and field visitations. (AU)
