Abstract

This research proposal aims to investigate applications of environmentally favorable conditions for the enzymatic kinetic resolution of 1-tetralols. The optically active tetralols constitute a class of versatile intermediates for the asymmetric synthesis of natural and biologically active products, such as (+)-mutisiantol (1), the jungianol (2), the flossonol (3), and (+)-xilarenona (4). The main goal of this proposal is analyze the efficiency of ionic liquids and organic carbonates as solvents for this biocatalyzed reaction, as an alternative to use of hexane, which is a commonly used solvent. Ionic Liquids and non-commercial organic carbonates will be tested with different enzymes and conditions. The aim is also to evaluate the influence of heating by microwave irradiation in these reactions, purposing to promote reactions biocatalyzed in a lower reaction time and with energy economy.
