Abstract By analyzing the role that the military police occupy in society, it is possible to observe a strong relationship to authority, strength and bodily integrity, aspects greatly distant from the image socially constructed and stigmatized of people with disabilities. Despite the apparent incongruence between these characters, the acquisition of a deficiency in function seems to be a real possibility in the professional life of these individuals, given the conditions of physical risk that officers are subjected to. Supported in the cultural-historical perspective, where work is seen as the vital human activity and have fundamental importance in the development of the psyche, this project aims to identify the set of meanings related to disability to military officers who retired due to the acquisition of an disability and also to active military officers. The autobiographical report will be used to analyze how the retired and active military officers mean disabilities, the first considering it while real phenomenon, and the second considering it as a possibility in their profession. | |
