Abstract

This research project aims to explore the process of financialisation of capital associated with higher education Private for profit in Brazil (2007-2012). Thus, it is proposed to investigate how it has been structured the formation of large business groups education (including the insertion of foreign capital) related to private higher education; marketing actions of some of these companies on the Stock Exchange (BM&FBOVESPA), the mechanisms law approved by the Government that have contributed to the encouragement of the process; well as the discussion of educational quality associated with private higher education. Through literature review of studies relevant to the topic, the interdisciplinary nature, such as books, articles, theses, dissertations and articles published in mass media outlets, along with statistical data on the movement of financial capital to companies linked private educational teaching top, like Anhanguera's Participações S.A., Estacio Participacoes S.A. and Kroton Educational S.A. provided by the institutions themselves or by others such as the Stock Exchange and the Central Bank of Brazil, aims to discuss the problem and insert new theoretical contributions to the educational debate linked to the theme in order to extrapolate the performance of a purely descriptive work. This form of commodification of education, which has taken the magnitude moving money, raises important questions as to the quality of education, besides the paths that are driving private higher education in the country for profit. Far from combat, such as reproduction and expansion of capital associated with private higher education ultimately contributes to the maintenance of significant social inequalities.
