Abstract

The caterpillar of cartridge corn, Spodoptera frugiperda (J. E. Smith) is one of major pest of corn growing, which can lead their damage reduction to 34% of yield, depending mainly on the stage of the culture attack occurs. The use of synthetic insecticides has been the primary method of pest control, but their indiscriminate and incorrect use has increased the number of applications and reduced its reduced its efficiency, mainly due to the emergence of resistant insect populations. In addition, they lead several other problems like residues in food, biological imbalance and intoxication of operators. Thereby, control measures that cause less environmental impact are overriding importance, which has stimulated the resurgence in the use of plants as a promising tool insecticides for insect control. Surveys involving insecticide plants evolved in the last decades on every continent. In the present project will be evaluated the effect of extracts of various plants of the order Sapindales on Spodoptera cartridge corn. (AU)
