Abstract

This research aims to build a collective biography of the group stimulated by Roberto Schwarz, around the year of 1963, and investigate the social conditions for the convergence and dispersion of both political and intellectual itinerary of its members. Having different degrees of attendance and involvement in the group, the members were: Ruy Fausto, Paul Singer, Sergio Ferro, Lourdes Sola, Célia Quirino, Zé Chico, Emir Sader, João Quartim de Moraes, Albertina Costa, Claudio Vouga, Emília Viotti, Francisco Weffort, Paulo Sandroni, Beth Milan. The group is placed in generational competition with the "Marx Seminar", leaded by José Arthur Giannotti, since 1958; and in the tight gap of professional opportunities that particularly affects the group of students by the end of the 1960s. Compressed by these two vectors, the group is flamed by the politicization mood that invades the university sociability, in tension with the traditional ways of scientific work, at that time, at the Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences and the University of São Paulo (FFLCH-USP). The transition of ideas and people in questions can be apprehended through quantitative and qualitative analysis of the magazines Theory and Practice, aParte, Review; by the disciplines itinerary and the choice of subjects, as well as the characterization of the social capital management that scanned the leave of members in the midst of police repression that stroke them, especially from 1969, as a result of many taking part in the armed conflict.
