Abstract

This research project aims to study the debate on social housing in Latin America, from the Inter-American Housing and Planning - CINVA, an agency of the Organization of American States - OAS. It is intended to investigate the trajectory of discussion about the housing issue in America, seeking to identify the extent to which debates occurring in Pan American Congress of Architects conducted between 1920 and 1950, and in particular on housing and urbanism, resulted in the creation of CINVA 1953. Will study the reverberations of research, courses and proposals generated in the center, in public policies of the participating countries. To further consideration will be given focus to the relationship between the Brazilian professionals with the institution by checking their level of engagement in the creation and performance of organ and reflected as such participation in research and action housing in Brazil, in subsequent years.Research should be structured in thematic core of housing and urban policy that guided the research, the professionals involved and their interrelationships within the CINVA. Therefore, it is essential to investigate how the notions of urban and regional planning were related to the concepts of development for Latin America, especially in economic theories. (AU)
