Abstract

The sexing of sperm, to obtain doses of semen with a high percentage of gametes carrying the X or Y chromosome, even more relevant the role of artificial insemination in maximizing the genetic progress between generations, productivity and economic returns in some farming activities; in assisted reproduction in mammals, and in genetic counseling of the human species. The objectives of this project will remove the plasma membrane proteins X and Y sperm of cattle; analyze the protein profile electrophoresis for uni-and bi-dimensional in order to select the sex-specific proteins, and sequence the selected proteins. Doses will be used for commercial sexed semen (Sexing Technologies, CRV Lagoa da Serra) cytometric sperm selected for X and Y. From these samples membrane proteins are removed by sonication. We will then analyzes the protein profile of the extract of the membrane by electrophoresis uni-and bi-dimensional. After completion of the gels the proteins identified as potential candidates for sex-specific will be transferred to a PVDF membrane and sent to the completion of sequencing. (AU)
