Abstract

The Standard Model (SM) of particle physics is an extremely successful description of all experimental data obtained thus far. However, there are reasons to expect that the SM cannot be valid for arbitrarily high energy scales. In the SM, the mass of the Higgs boson is quadratically sensitive to radiative corrections and, hence, suffers from a huge fine-tunning problem, leading to the so-called gauge hierarchy problem whose natural solution demands the presence of new physics at the TeV scale. In this project we investigate four dimensional models that describe physics at the TeV scale obtained from discretized five dimensional theories with an AdS5 metric, following the procedure of dimensional deconstruction. In these theories the gauge and fermion mass hierarchies are naturally generated. We propose to build realistic models of electroweak symmetry breaking and to study their phenomenology. We may also study the holographic description of strongly coupled systems. We will make predictions to be verified at the LHC and other experiments. (AU)
