Directions in urban space: the deletion in the city as a form of resistance

Abstract

The current project aims at investigating the discursive operation present in cities-urban, social, symbolic spaces, heterogeneous, of memory. We seek to reflect and understanding how the movements present in urban space strike and cause changes in the social order. Our main focus to analyze the city as a discursive medium, with the language and writing movements present in the set, making this urban space a space of signification. Within this large nucleus, we chose to work with the materiality in monuments-because it is these which allow the construction of a possible symbolic meaning, establishing relationships as: between past and present, individual and collective stories. Through references in space and time, the monuments are as space of enunciation in the midst of their trajectories and routes through the city. The theoretical scope of the French discourse analysis, affiliated by Michel Pêcheux, will study the effects of meaning present in the urban space, and through the Prophet's Kindness made inscriptions in one of the main avenues of the city of Rio de Janeiro, we speculate the many ways that the works of kindness are works which were erased, but through popular demonstrations have earned the right to be restored and declared. We believe pointing in the direction of developing a project with the theme of social/political relevance, with strong appeal to the understanding of discourse about the urban space and your senses of silences/deletions that this space can suffer, with spaces of resistance.
