Abstract The change of the natural environment by the urban forms construction has resulted in increasing environmental heterogeneity of landscapes and it creates conditions that modify the surface energy balance. Thus, this study aims to do a previous detailing concerning the types of the land use and occupation as support to identify potential climate units, which influence the environmental quality differently. Therefore, it will be used high spatial resolution satellite imagery in a Geographic Information System for the classification of units with relatively homogeneous characteristics. The map produced will be the basis to measure surface properties that influence surface-layer climate (temperature and relative air humidity, surface roughness height, impervious surface fraction and thermal admittance) in typical months of winter and summer. These properties will be properly detailed, individually described and illustrated in standardized data sheets, which can show the capacity of a site to modify its thermal microclimate and improve consistency and accuracy in urban climate reporting. | |
