Abstract

The Bay Araçá, located in São Sebastião Channel, comes supporting different anthropogenic pressures, which has generated numerous efforts aimed at its preservation because of its great biological diversity and fundamental importance to local fisheries. With a peculiar fauna, is a fundamental understanding of this area, especially in relation to that, and little known represents an important source of food and economic resources for many fishermen who work there. There are several ways to analyze this ichthyofauna, one of the organizations of a database on the distribution and ecology of the species present there, in order to enable the understanding of the role of each species using the ecosystem and identify patterns and gaps in knowledge of them. The objective of this study is to build a database containing bibliographic information concerning species in Araçá. The bank will be built in Microsoft Excel 2010 and based on different sources of scientific information. The distribution and biological characteristics of each fish species collected in Araçá, while driving theme project Biota-FAPESP Araçá (Proc. 11/50317-5), will be compared with data from the database, which will allow the realization of similarities, differences and changes in the standards presented in the bibliography.
