Abstract

Domestic violence against children and adolescents has been, in recent years, the target of interest and concern to researchers of child development, particularly with regard to the consequences and psychological sequel. Recent studies in the area show that domestic violence can be considered a real public health problem in view of the large number of cases arriving at basic health units, outpatient services, emergency care etc. His approach presents several difficulties due to be a problem that manifests confidentially, and being surrounded by hindering ideological devices that reveal and conceal at the same time. Thus, the effective confrontation of the problem requires broad and deep understanding of the subject and to systematize the steps to identify the occurrence of victimization. Objective: This research aims to study the adaptation of an inventory and its validation for use with children and adolescents with Portuguese-speaking hypothesis of physical and sexual victimization. Method: The "Inventory of phrases" will be applied in 50 children, aged between six and 16 years, diagnosed with victims of physical violence and / or sexual, resident in Portugal and in southeastern Brazil. A third control group, without suspicion of victimization count of 50 children matched for gender and age. Analysis of Results: Data will be subjected to qualitative and quantitative analyzes using statistical procedures specifically aimed to assess the instrument accuracy and validity, by linear correlations (item analysis, correlation analysis) and analysis of the instrument sensitivity and specificity for testing different areas of normal curve, named ROC Curves - Receiver Operating Characteristics.
