Abstract

This research project addresses the hypothesis that artistic production, a key part in the current resistance movement, by creating strategies for action and images derived from those actions, offers evidence of the existence of a collective body that shares a new upcoming sensibility. Image here is therefore understood as an indication of the emergence of the "becoming", which constitutes the counterpower causing tension with the hegemonic power, and also in the sense of the "culture of image" trivialized as a commodity. In this dissertation, it will be paramount to deepen the definition of this "new sensibility" that struggles to become visible and readable, and one of which of its main traits is the act of putting itself in the center of a deadlock as a tactic to open space for the dispute over the ongoing project of town and society - thus demonstrating the haphazardness in the production of the social, as seen from both micropolitical and macropolitical perspectives. In order to argue this hypothesis, I intend to analyze a series of images created between the 1990s and the present by artists and art collectives from around the world who were inspired by their interactions with political movements.
