Abstract The species can be used in recuperation of demage areas as well as providing many health benefits, however there are no seed genebanks to meet this demand, which may result in inadequate exploration of the species as happened to Baccharis trimera. The objective of this study is to provide subsidies for the sustainable exploitation of species for its medicinal and aromatic and continuing the development of genetic improvement, aiming at the production of essential oil of commercial interest and the formation of a germoplasm bank seed from Baccharis dracunculifolia with wide genetic variability. The plant materials used for this study will be collected from natural populations in Campos do Jordao, Ubatuba, and the region of Campinas. The natural populations will be assessed regarding the production of essential oil and seed germination techniques. The essencial oil yield will be evaluated via a provenances and progenies test to be installed on CPQBA. Genotyping of three natural populations, will allow the characterization of genetic variability within and among natural populations and the chemical characterization. | |
