Associated to the scholarship:12/02238-1 - Consumption and devotion at the Shrine of Aparecida/SP - Brazil, BP.MS

This project is linked to my original masters research which aims to approach the dynamic from the Brazilian city Aparecida/SP by approximating two features supposedly divergent. Consumption through trade practice and devotion through religious forms, understanding both the fundamental constituents of the same phenomenon that is the trip to the National Shrine of Our Lady of Aparecida. Leiden University was chosen as a reference for teachers internationally recognized for its expertise in anthropology of material culture, in various interfaces ranging from the area of religion and media and ethnographic objects to the phenomenon of modernity. Moreover, the stay in the Netherlands also brings the benefit of geographic proximity on a number of European sanctuaries in which visits will provide a counterpoint to my original fieldwork. (AU)
