Abstract

This project aims to optimize algae lipid productivity in pilot-scale, considering the production, harvest and oil extraction systems, suitable for industrial scale, and study the capacity for wastewater nutrient biofixation, as nitrogen, phosphate, metallic elements and the residual carbon mitigation. In this project will be used unialgae freshwater strains, from the "Banco de Microalgas Marinhas" (BMM) of the "Instituto Oceanográfico" (IO), "Universidade de São Paulo" (USP), and mixed and isolated strains from the USP residential effluent, recovered from the activated sludge wastewater treatment systems, which are present at the "Centro Internacional de Referência e Reúso de Água" (CIRRA). Moreover, this project uses the installations supported by the FAPESP process number 2011/17479-1 in the following ways: use of the greenhouse, benches and raceway systems for phytoplankton primary production, Membrane Bio Reactor (MBR) for the effluent filtration, air compressor, CO2 cylinder and accessories, and other relevant equipment for the cultivation and/or liquid effluents treatment after decanting process and MBR system. It will also use several facilities and equipments of the "Laboratório de Ecologia do Fitoplâncton e Produção Primária" (PROFITO) of IOUSP, acquired during the FAPESP process 2010/50187-1, finished in September 30, 2012. The meteorological data, including solar radiation, will be obtained from the "Instituto de Eletrotécnica e de Energia" (IEE/USP). (AU)
