Abstract

This proposal for international cooperation in the activities of the master's project "Active sites accessibility and catalyst deactivation in the glycerol dehydration using lamellar zeolites" refers to the conceptual study of the mechanisms of synthesis by the sol-gel catalysts aiming at application in the production of glycerol derivatives, renewable raw materials of great interest for heterogeneous catalysis. This main of the study is the challenge the systematic study of the relationship between the composition, processing parameter and the final structure of the material to determine the best conditions for modification of these catalysts. The catalytic efficiency of these materials was confirmed in the dehydration reaction of glycerol to acrolein production, however there is a deficiency in the understanding of surface characteristics of how this property acid and interferes with the deactivation. These skills characterizations of surface are already developed by the research team of INCAPE, the Argentine Institute of catalysis. (AU)
