Abstract

The aim of this study was to analyse by microcomputed tomography, rapid prototyping and microscopic analysis the anatomical features, the shaping and disinfection process of roots with anatomical complexities. Three projects will be developed. In the first project the aim will be to describe by using two and three dimensional morphometric parameters the anatomy of mesial roots of mandibular molars and mesiobuccal roots of first maxillary molars. The second project will address a novel topic, the use of rapid prototyping for the evaluation of the instrumentation process. The third project aims to analyze three protocols of treatment of necrotic teeth. The influence of passive ultrasonic irrigation and intracanal dressings will be measured by the use of confocal and optical microscopy.
