Abstract

His doctoral research entitled - Weaves social, urban nets: trade and justice in the history of Urbanization "Certoens North" (1675 - 1822), seeks to explore the process of structuring urban networks of the northeastern hinterlands, between 1675 and 1822, from some aspects exploited by historiography: trade and justice.Focusing on areas of current internalized states of Maranhão, Piauí, Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Sergipe and Bahia, it proposes to unveil specifics of interregional and intercontinental market, interpreting the terms of commodity exchange and intercapitanias with overseas, in order to understand the logic and technical division of labor related to the economy and the role of the urban population centers in the urban system. Illuminate the actors, networks of relationships, and in social hierarchies, checking their economic implications, political and cultural. In parallel, it contemplates a policy of urbanization "Certoens North", looking at how the Portuguese Crown devised justice from the seventeenth century, and for territorial control of conflicts, crimes and power games. From this perspective, especially investigating the little known urban category - the "julgado"- preferred for villages especially in contentious areas such as mining areas and the indomitable hinterland, where Portugal was not intended to grant political autonomy to local representatives. In the case of a doctoral project to a proposed University of Architecture and Urban Planning, it aims to analyze the latest "rugosidades" (Milton Santos, 2009) of the territory and in the villages and in the material remains that urban network of exchanges.
