Abstract

This research project includes the study of the cosmic ray flux in the city of São Paulo and the effects of this radiation in gravitational antenna Mario Schenberg. Will be held a Monte Carlo simulation of the passage of cosmic radiation through the building and detector of gravitational waves using the Geant4 toolkit of CERN. The energies of normal modes of resonant sphere will be calculated using the thermoacoustic multipoint model. The results will be compared with experimental data of cosmic ray veto installed next to gravitational antenna. This study will allow a better understanding of the noise generated by cosmic rays in the gravitational wave detector and how this signal can be used to calibrate the response of the antenna. (AU)
