Abstract The goal of this project is to the study of the formation of the authority exercised by the bishops in the context of political reorganization in the Roman Empire of the fifth-century. The study focus on the transition from the power of the Roman secular to the Christian power and Germanic power on territory of Gaul.Will analyze the link between the gradual growth of episcopal authority with the social role occupied by the bishops, as well as the ideas professed by the monks-bishops formed at the monastery of Lérins, that maybe give justification to actions of those, face to news moments experienced by the Empire and its new inhabitants. | |
