Abstract

This proposed research is part of project No. 2012/21450-1 FAPESP and aiming at the synthesis and characterization of solid co-crystals obtained from ketoprofen and co-formers, DL-panthenol, succinic acid and salicylic acid.This project focuses on the synthesis and characterization of solid-state co-crystals obtained from some anti-inflammatory and co-formers.The co-crystals will be obtained through mechanochemical methods (solvent assisted by grinding), with the aid of a ball mill, and also by crystallization in solution, by using solvents and/or solvent mixtures.The characterization of co-crystals will be made through the following experiments: Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), polarized light thermomicroscopy (PLTM), absorption spectroscopy in the infrared region (FTIR) and X-ray diffraction techniques (powder method and single crystal). As it is a technique rarely used in Brazil, the PLTM studies will be developed in partnership with the Department of Chemistry, University of Coimbra, Portugal, with the collaboration of Prof. Dr. Ricardo Esteves Antonio de Castro and Profª. Drª. Ermelinda Maria da Silva Eusébio.It is expected this way to obtain co-crystals capable of promote an improvement in the physico-chemical properties of the antiinflammatory drugs used for this study.
