Abstract

Microorganisms have been discovered and characterized in various environments, including cultivated fields, hot springs, oceans, and plant and animal hosts. This interest is due to the important biotechnological potential of their products metabolites. The compounds derived from bacteria and fungi are potential targets in the industry, pharmaceutical mainly due to the fact that the cultivation of micro-organisms is a relatively easy process and, moreover, in the case of a compound presenting a certain potential activity, the micro-organism can be manipulated to allow production of the desired scale. In this context, the present proposal aims to maintain, preserve and taxonomically characterize bacterial strains isolated from marine organisms collected in Cabo Frio, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The bacteria are reactivated in solid and viability and purity analyzed by optical microscopy, then the genomic DNA will be obtained for amplification of the spacer region of the ribosomal operon using universal primers. Profiles of bands obtained by digestion with restriction enzymes will be analyzed in order to select program Bionmerics distinct ribotypes. Bacteria present profiles of bands only be identified by sequence analysis of 16S ribosomal RNA gene and deposited in the Collection Brazilian Environment and Industry - CBMAI, aiming to increase the collection of bacteria from the marine environment for future bioprospecting projects and taxonomy.
