Abstract This project proposes the study of the presence of Bacchus in the period between the Late Republic and the Augustan Age in Rome, with emphasis on the Latin poetry of Catullus, Virgil, Horace, Propertius and Ovid; and search for analogous loci, themes and motifs in paintings, sculptures, coins and mosaics produced in the same period. This interdisciplinary research aims at the study of the representations of this god in different arts in order to achieve a more precise interpretation of the images in the poems. (AU) | |
