Abstract

The family is considered a factor of protection as well as risk in the face of the complexity of the abusive use of, and dependency on alcohol, crack and other drugs for the child and the adolescent. This project has as its general objective to evaluate the internal and external structures of the families of children and adolescents who are abusers of, or dependent on psychoactive drugs in a CAPS AD (Psychosocial Attention Center- Alcohol and other Drugs) located in the interior of the state of São Paulo. The specific objectives consist in characterizing the profile of the parents of the children and adolescents dyad who abuse alcohol and other drugs in the CAPS AD; identifying the aspects of their family structure and the available network and social support, recognized and utilized by the parents dyad. It will be constituted from an exploratory study, of qualitative method, having as their research subjects the father/mother of children and adolescents dyad who make problematic use of psychoactive substances and are registered in a CAPS AD. The instruments used for the collection of data will be composed of a semi-structured interview with a guiding question, as well as genogram and ecomap, with their data analysed by content analysis, thematic category. All ethical precepts disciplined by Resolution 196/96, regulated by the National Health Council, will be respected. It is hoped that this study can contribute to the formulation of local health and mental health policies, especially in focusing on the problematics of psychoactive drugs in the domain of specialized attention. Furthermore, it is hoped that this research subsidizes health workers by improving their knowledge, as well as providing them with the tools for the planning and implementation of the care of the family, the child and the adolescent in this specific risk situation.
