Abstract

This research project aims to study the life and memoir of the nurse, activist and former political prisoner, Áurea Moretti Pires. Áurea was one of the leaders of the Armed Forces of National Liberation (FALN), movement in the region of Ribeirão Preto in the state of São Paulo, tha fought against the Brazilian military dictatorship (1964-1985) and was dismembered in October 1969. In the company of Vanderlay Caixe, Mario Bugliani, among others, organized political demonstrations and a newspaper (O Berro), adverse to the authoritarian state. The focus of the work is to study the role and political relevance of the female figure in the survival and resistance against the dictatorship as was in the clandestine life, which were the difficulties in training and life guerrillas, as they were facing the physical and psychological torture by agents of the government, and a process that resulted as a six (6) year sentence in prison, of which she served three (3) years and a half in a closed and another year in semi-open regime and as well her experiences as a political prisoner. The chosen period (1965-1975) refers to the year in which Áurea joined the armed struggle, having been arrested and tortured in 1969, led by the Organization Bandeirantes (Oban) and the period in which she was convicted and served his time.
