Abstract

The restructuring process by which the Agriculture spent the past several decades has generated impacts in rural and urban areas, as well as the relationship between these spaces and their contents - rural and urban. Our proposal focuses on the analysis of impacts on small localities, focusing on the actions taken by the state - through public policies for family farming - and the private sector, especially with regard to the expansion of sugarcane production, which occurs in the western region of the state of São Paulo, also counting on government support. We selected the analytical approach as the urban districts of Jamaica and Jaciporã - located in Dracena-SP - by treating yourself to small localities that have spatial reorganization processes generated by the agriculture new dynamics , among which we cite the deployment of Food Acquisition Program (PAA), the Association of rural Producers in J.Marques Jaciporã, and installation of Dracena Sugar and Alcohol, located in the rural area of the district of Jamaica, both in 2006. The cases cited fall within the qualitative changes that Agriculture pass at various scales, and create profound changes in the lifestyle of the inhabitants of the districts and in the relations between the rural and urban spaces that become more complex and intense, so our proposal constitutes a case study with the use of questionnaire and conducting interviews for achieving the goals, which focus on lifting of the impacts economic, social and cultural engendered in the spatial organization of the districts mentioned above resulting from changes observed in the agricultural sector.
