Abstract

This project proposes an original application of high-order finite element method in analysis of structural dynamic contact problems. The contact element will be built from the mortar decomposition method of the discretized domain and implemented in a high-order finite element code. Due to the high computational cost involving this kind of application, the developed codes will be focused in high performance. With this purpose, modern computational technologies will be used such as the parallel and distributed programming with performance measure tools. The objectives of the study are the analysis of the accuracy of solution by the increase of the element interpolation order and some important aspects relative to the robustness, computational viability and stability of solution in contact problems. The analysis will be performed in tridimensional dynamic contact problems with finite deformation, friction and using hyperelastic materials. A robust and parallel version of the code will be available in a public domain in the end of this project.
