Abstract

This Project is about music education and social inclusion focusing on intellectual disability. My interest on the subject begun through a personal identification which intensified as I had more contact with the subject at symposiums and courses. I also worked with students with intellectual disabilities for one year (2011) in a public school in Mogi das Cruzes, São Paulo. Such experience kindled my curiosity about the subject. The objective of the research proposal is to make a bibliographical study, which will give an opportunity to know the literature on the subject of music education for persons with intellectual disabilities. Such study will be done through a bibliographical review of the scientific production of the last five years. For that we will employ the method of bibliographical research and analyse the results with the content analysis method. The relevance of this proposal is in the challenges that the education of persons with intellectual disabilities brings when public policies assure the accessibility of people with disabilities in many social groups. The importance of this is intensified with the mandatory teaching of music in basic education, since 2008.
