Abstract

The study of estrogens in marine matrices is still underexplored compared to the freshwater ones. The interest, have been increased, since they show relatively stable in such an environment. Most studies focused on sea water, with little emphasis on particulate matter and / or marine sediment.I n this research is ongoing doctoral research project (Renato Gonçalves Miani, CAPES scholarship) and post doctoral (Dayana Moscardi Santos - FAPESP proc. 2012/17898-7) that intends to make a diagnosis of the occurrence of estrogens and other molecules considered endocrine disrupters in the estuarine complex Santos-São Vicente, seeking to evaluate the influence of ocean outfalls contamination found as well as ecotoxicological risk that contamination may represents. This project aims to establish and validate a method for the estrogens analysis in sediment and particulate matter from sea water, to be used in the projects mentioned above. These methods should be based on dispersive-SPE (QUEChRS), followed by HPLC / UV Flu analysis.
