The use of temporary prosthesis can extend for over months during an oral rehabilitation treatment. However, the material used in temporary prosthesis needs to present excellent pshysical properties to achieve greater longevity regarding the elements that may occur in the oral cavity. Therefore, the aim of this study will be to evaluate the influence of glaze application on some physical properties of polymers used for making temporary prosthesis, before and after thermocycling and immersion in coffee staining solution. Four different commercial brands of resins used to make provisory prosthesis will be evaluated: Dencor RAAQ (n=20) and RAAT (n=20), Charisma (n=20), Structur (n=20) and Protemp (n=20). Ten samples of each resin will be submitted to mechanical polishing and the other ten to chemical polishing with light-cured glaze. Tests of color stability, microhardness, roughness, surface energy, atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM/EDS) will be performed before and after 2000 cycles of thermal cycling and again after 21 days of immersing the samples in coffee staining solution. The data obtained will be tested for adherence to the normal curve and the appropriate statistical test will be applied to compare the mean values of the samples.
