Abstract

Given the importance that the pig represents for our country, and the need to promote increased reproductive efficiency in these animals, we will describe the morphology of the epithelial lining of the epididymis of piglets, as well as the expression and immunolocalization of aquaporin 9 (AQP9), seeking to cooperate with future investigations, particularly those relating to the zootechnical rational exploration of these animals. For this, we will collected fragments of epididymal regions (initial segment, head, body and tail) of five piglets one week old, Large White breed. The specimens shall be fixed in Bouin's fluid for 24 h. After fixation histological samples are intended to be included in the routine Paraplast TM (Sigma, St. Louis, MO, USA). Following the inclusion will be made microtomy to obtain histological sections of 5 mm thick, which will be mounted on silanized slides, and the material is then allocated to routine histological and immunohistochemical detection of AQP9.
