Abstract

The medium cities have experienced a process of multiplying their central areas, due to the combination of local capital and those who work in the regional, national and international. As a rule, such centers mark segmentations in terms of spatial practices and the local consumer market, expressing and reinforcing social cleavages and leveraging new. In terms of evening entertainment, such processes can also be identified, although, in most cases, these centers do not coincide with the shopping and services. We must consider that: 1 . the leisure centers in cities like night Ribeirão Preto are neither as dynamic and diverse as those identified in metropolitan -sized cities , so that the possibilities of interaction between different social classes is more present, which is not without tensions. 2 . today , sociable interactions , those performed in the field of sociability , in times and places of amusement , have been heavily impacted by the new technologies of information and communication technologies (ICTs ) , which allow for increased opportunities for interaction between the individuals involved . Studying the process of constitution of the centrality of the nightly entertainment in the city of Ribeirão Preto, its current dynamics, the profile of their patrons, their spatial practices and tensions present in these spaces, and the ways in which the subjects are dealing with the new possibilities in telecomunicativas configuration of their spatial practices and relations of sociability, is the purpose of this project.
