Abstract

This research has the intention to analyze the compositional techniques of the images of violence published in Folha de S. Paulo and in the newspaper Primeira Página, with the aim to map the ideological and professional media constructions that mediate pain in the photographs published in the press filters. For this, we will study the different composition techniques and the different effects of meaning articulated by these techniques. Our goal is to see how the repetitions are articulated and the translations of meaning in photojournalistic composition of pain from its narrative structure, in other words, the codified form of organization. To do this study , shall be used as the method of analysis proposed by Umberto Eco about the rhetoric of the image, involving the five levels of decomposition of the photograph (iconic, iconographic, tropological and enthymeme topic levels). We will analyze these images from the perspective of the effects of meaning composition techniques to engender glimpse what were the meanings of violence woven these papers, as well as what were the ideological and professionals who dictated the choice of photographs published filters.
