Introduction: The atresic forces from the scars of the lip and palate primary surgeries usually leads to atresic maxilla and deficiencies in the anterior maxillary growth in patients with cleft lip and palate. Recently studies have shown great success in the protraction of the maxilla by using intraoral elastics anchored in mini plates installed in the zygomatic and mandibular bones of patients with maxillary deficiencies. However there are no reports in the literature regardind the orthopedic protraction of the maxilla anchored in miniplates in patients with cleft lip and palate. Purpose: assess by means of tridimensional analysis the skeletal responses to the protraction of the maxilla anchored in mini plates in patients with cleft lip and palate. Material and Methods: the sample will comprise cone-beam computed tomography of 25 patients with unilateral cleft lip and palate, aging between 10 and 12 years, in the late mixd dentition or early permanent dentition, with lower canines in occlusion. The exams were taken in 2 times: T1 - before installing the mini plates and 1 year after the initial loading. The exams will be compared with 3-dimensional analysis and images superimposition. The results will be compared with the paired t test.
