Abstract Leishmaniasis affects millions of people worldwide and is considered one of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) by affecting mainly the populations in developing countries. There are few drugs available for the treatment of leishmaniasis, which are toxic and often ineffective due to the emergence of resistant strains, thus the search for new compounds with leishmanicidal activity is justified. The goal of this scientific visit is to establish in our lab the protocol of inhibitory activity of topoisomerase 1B of L. infantum. The chalcone derivatives T12 and T13 was choosen for this intensive training program. Besides, this visit is also important in order to discuss the terms of the collaboration involving Desideri´s lab and mine, which involves students and reserachers exchange between our labs. (AU) | |
