Abstract

This research project aims at examining the Benjaminian question of the "impoverishment of experience" in the instance of the use of Film at School, this use being supported by a hegemonic (official) pedagogic discourse that specifies and attributes a place for Film in the universe of school. From a (dis) educative perspective, the filmography of Jean-Luc Godard (Breathless, My Life to Live, Contempt), opposes the place attributed to Film which conceives its use for "educative" purposes. A Godardian perspective would not "avoid a random and open reality" (FOUCAULT, 1988) nor constitute itself on conjectures far away from so called reality. It does understand that the present (time) where the film constitutes itself (BAZIN, 1991) drives it into multiple directions; the notion of event structures its conception of reality, since such notion is not reducible to the "didactic" format, but undermines power and the ordinations of the school dispositions. Conversely, by making use or so called "realistic" films,"real facts", the hegemonic pedagogic discourse that ordinates the cinema at school -despite the debate around the overthrown of the metaphysical subject (loss of the unitary historic perspective)-strengths, and, through the emphasis on the image as illustration, promotes a learning method that takes the piece "content" as the central object. In effect, it moralises that content assuming the mimetic reproduction as the educative role par excellence. Those are questions this work intends to investigate. To do that, the available literature on the subject as well as the official texts produced by the SP Government regulating the insertion of Film at school will be considered.
