Abstract

This research project aims to analyze in a historical perspective the transformations and appropriations of Caiçara culture in Camaroeiro's Community from Caraguatatuba, North Coast of São Paulo, in the course of second half to the twentieth century and the beginning of twenty-first century. At the last decades the caiçara culture experienced great transformations, mainly in their factor more patent, the work with fishery and the relation of caiçara with the sea. In this changes process, some factors were decisive for this phenomenon in Caraguatatuba town, as accelerated urbanization from the 1950s together with a real estate boom (1970s), stimulated by increased of tourist interest on the region of North Coast and that have provided an intense migration toward Caraguatatuba in 1960s, 70s and 80s. In this context, the changes in the landscape, in society and the economy, caused different modes of appropriation this culture. That way, this Project aims to analyze through oral reports and documentary research, how these phenomenons impacted caiçara's daily life, the relations and their ways of life, establishing methodological and theoretical dialogue as from the convergence of common themes that comprise the History and Humanities.
