Abstract

The School healt program(SHP) results from a partnership between the Health and Education Ministries. The first block of this program involves the assessment of the students health conditions in different areas of childhood development. The dysphonia in childhood is a communication disorders commonly observed between students of Early Childhood Education and is generally caused by situations of vocal abuse practiced by children at home and at school. Studies show students with need for actions that contribute to the prevention of this child health problem. The research aims at assessing the vocal health conditions among students of early childhood education by identifying complaints and vocal habits indicated on questionnaires filled out by their parents, as well acoustic analysis of the voices of preschool participants. The evaluation of the students vocal health will allow the design of prevention and health promotion in order to meet the second block of the SHP. Furthermore, the knowledge dissemination through research activities among teachers and other members of the school staff will meet the third block of the SHP which involves Continuing Education of the professionals. The survey data on complaints and vocal habits as well as the acoustic parameters of students' voices will provide, in future studies, meet the fourth block of the SHP which is the health conditions monitoring.
